CFN participants receive high-level advice from local volunteer experts about legal, financial, personnel, board management,and fundraising; relevant information on governance structures, and customized technical assistance from Ecotrust, Island Institute staff and others.

Sustainability Standards and Metrics

CFN participants obtain the resources they need to develop practical, functional metrics tailored to their community and its fisheries; help in assessing their needs for data collection that supports harvest and product accountability; and assistance in developing Community Sustainability Plans. Seafood Business-Planning

CFN participants have access to one-on-one business planning and development of an informal mentoring network using local resources and national experts acting as senior advisors, along with peer-to-peer learning and online information-sharing.

Networking and Marketing

CFN participants can share best practices on bycatch, monitoring, evaluation, and other innovations through a peer-to-peer, in-person and remote communications network. They also partner with other Network organizations, and receive technical assistance in video, social-media and other "storytelling" platforms and proficiencies to build local support for their efforts and products and reach new audiences across the country. Policy

CFN participants have the opportunity to participate in the development and communication of community perspectives on matters of national interest in fisheries management, conservation and economic development policy.
